I take pride in my ability to hear quality production or remastering, etc. How can you explain a horrible sounding Greatest Hits from such a talented artist. My brother who grew up in the 70's turned me on to Barry. Somehow it's easy not to like a guy that actually has class and isn't plastered by tabloids and media frenzy. This is just another example of quantity verses quality. At any rate, now I really do love Barry Manilow. His singing has a nostalgic feel to it and the accompanying music is always top notch. The quality of this disc however is so bad.
I also detected a little distortion when some vocals/instruments would peek. There is absolutely no balance between low end and high end.
It's crazy how much great stuff we miss when our minds are shut off to new experiences out of greed or a lack of awareness. The music has an undeniable high lift to it.
I really really despised him without even knowing why. This particular album sounds like the label just took a bunch of worn LPs and transferred them without polishing or cleaning the sound.
If I were Barry I would be jacked at the quality of this finished product. I opened my mind and actually began enjoying listening to him.
I wouldn't consider myself a hardcore fan but I have a lot of respect for him and the career he has made for himself.
The CD was in perfect condition and I received it on time. I have no complaints.
It may well be in the master, too. Do not purchase this download. Track 15 has a serious glitch in it at about 2:30 seconds.
you can now download the MP3's right from Amazon. Gotta LOVE this Manilow album. No Manilow fan should be without this collection. Sweet deal. Classic "RCA" album from 1985. Great memories of concerts where he would sing "I'm your man" and others like "It's a long way up."This was a hard-to-find gem among Manilow fans and collectors; and look.
This is my favorite CD, I love all of Barry Manilow's CD's but this one just relaxes me.
